I've spent a good portion of my life trying to figure out what I want out of life. Trying to figure out what will make me happy. I think the only thing I have learned is that trying to figure that out doesn't make me happy. Sure, there are some things in life that some would say point out my direction in life, but are they the real deal? I've hidden the real me away for so long that I don't even know who I am. I become someone different in various situations, but mostly I'm just a pussy who will bend over backwards to make others happy at the sacrifice of my own happiness. Am I happy where I am? Not really, but I'm changing that. And, when I'm no longer bound by the fact that everyone in the community knows me, maybe I'll be able to find out who I really am.

The Answers to the Unanswered

Here're the answers to that previous meme entry that were not correctly guessed.

02. Eureka - Henry Deacon - He's probably one of the only people in Eureka who doesn't treat Jack like he's an idiot. There's respect there.
03. Heroes - Hiro Nakamura - A geek with the ability to manipulate the time-space continuum...that's like my dream.
04. Neon Genesis Evangelion - EVA Unit-01 - Mostly, this is for aesthetic reasons, but Petit Eva has made Unit-01 awesome in my mind.
05. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Ford "Ix" Prefect - Ford has always been a bit more downplayed and required much less special effects to make believeable.
06. Read or Die - Nenene Sumiregawa - An author surrounded by Paper Users. Also, she can sleep on a couch with no problem.
08. X-Men - Nightcrawler - He's always been the only X-Men character with a fully-developed personality and character, in my opinion.
09. Star Wars - Kit Fisto - Jamaican fish-dude with tentacle-dreads and a fierce lightsaber style. Thank you, Clone Wars, for introducing me to the awesomeness.
10. Pokemon - Deoxys - An alien being based on the concept of DNA, I'm sold right there.
11. Hellboy - Johann Kraus(s) - A disembodied smart-ass German/Austrian scientist with the ability to possess almost anything mechanical. XD
12. Metal Slug - Fiolina "Fio" Germi - Cute and deadly.
13. Firefly/Serenity - Hoban "Wash" Washburne - With his childish sense of humor, Wash brought warmth to Serenity. He was a leaf on the wind.
14. Fraggle Rock - Boober - From the hat and scarf and his outlook on life, how could one not enjoy this character?
15. Scrubs - Janitor - I've always enjoyed his position in the hospital, and I'm beginning to enjoy him even more in Season 8.
17. Discworld - Death - That's right, Death. The driest sense of humor and the coolest look together in one skeletal body.
18. Mega Man - Proto Man - Aloof and mysterious. Also, scarf. Scarf love.
20. Spider-Man - Herman "The Shocker" Schultz - He's been ignored by too many people. Gotta show the love to the one character who's got a 50-50 record against Spider-Man.

Another One From the Vault

Sea Kitty Snugglerolls!

So, I had planned to spend tonight creating content for my site and studying my Welsh. Instead, I found myself watching the end of Star Wars being riffed by the guys from MST3K, then chatting on IRC about sea kittens. Productive? Not really. Pleh. Tomorrow night's not looking too hot either. But, maybe I'll pull it off.

The content I'm working on for my site is a review of Surfer, Dude and two Top 15 lists: traditionally animated movies and "Weird Al" Yankovic original songs.

A little story from CS.com

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot Deux

SC: “The fridge made this click and a pop, than there was a burning smell and smoke.”
Me: “Hmmm….ok, well-“
SC: “I’m looking at the manual here and it says that you may hear pops or clicks when you first plug it in….so that’s not. The compressor might make noise after defrosting when they expand and contract. But there was a burning smell too….”
Me: “Yes, that’s the problem. Its possible fire hazard.“
SC: “Do you think there might be a monster back there?”
ME: “Haha, probably not, no.”
SC: “No, seriously.”
Me: “……no. No there isn’t.”

Its amazing how one line can change the tone of the entire conversation. You know I’ve had appliances fail on me before too. I even had my fridge die a couple years back. But the possibility of monster invention as a probable cause never entered my mind. In fact I haven’t considered the possibility of monster invention as an explanation for anything since I was 6. Back than they were potentially responsible for just about anything from strange noises in the night to GI Joes that went MIA to waking up in the morning with bed head.

The worst part of this was she sounded seriously afraid. The possibility was utterly rational in her world. Though applying the word rational to it is a stretch.
